How do our sessions work?

For the single online sessions, you just need to sign up for a free Zoom account and we will find a mutually good time to meet. Our first meeting will be just for getting to know each other and chatting about your goals and hopes. We can do some basic assessments and discern if there are any particular challenges to overcome. The sessions are one hour in length and follow hour blocks (e.g. 10 am - 11 am).

How does payment work?

For the training sessions I ask for four weeks' payment at a time, mostly so we don't need to mess with invoices every single week. Makes things nice and simple. I would send you an invoice for four sessions and then you pay via e-Transfer. Payment must be made before sessions begin. No taxes are charged on the listed rates.

Do I need any equipment for a home-based workout?

Nope! Generally, for a basic home workout we can figure out a program that uses only your own bodyweight and household items / fixtures. However, as part of our discussions we might decide that buying a few small pieces of equipment might be fun and help with your progress (e.g. resistance bands, small dumbbells, medicine balls, etc.). You don't have to be limited by your budget.

Will you make me a program to use at the gym?

Yes! Generally I would prefer that you have a moderate amount of experience before sending you off to the gym with a program. This is mainly because I wouldn't be around to check your form and answer questions in person. However if you are a beginner that's feeling a bit overwhelmed at the gym or with fitness in general, I'd be happy to chat through any apprehensions or curiosity you might have.

Is there any paperwork before starting?

Yes, there are two documents that everyone must complete before their first session. Because of the distant nature of online training, insurance requires that a liability waiver be signed before starting out. Otherwise there is a very short questionnaire called the PAR-Q (physical activity readiness questionnaire), which is designed to indicate whether you should chat with a doctor before training.

Are there any late / cancellation fees?

If you cancel your session within 24 hours of the agreed upon time, the full amount will be charged. If cancelled with more than 24 hours notice, a credit may be put toward a future session, but this should generally be avoided if possible.

Who qualifies as an arts worker?

Pretty much anyone you can imagine within that industry! Box office staff, drummer, venue bartender, arts administrator, mime, whatever. Just confirm with me that it does indeed count and we'll set you up with that pricing scheme.

What is your cat's name?

His name is Jim. I realize his name is a homophone with ‘gym’ but that was entirely unintentional I assure you. Jim is a puffy gentleman and a true cuddlemonger. You can expect him to say hi from time to time!
